Why not vernon forrest as an opponent for oscar de la hoya? its at 154 and would be for a title, why no talk?

Vernon is a dangerous/serious opponent at 154 and Oscar was looking for the most money with the least risk. You have to consider the fact that De La Hoya isn't a full-time fighter he's a part-time fighter and part-time businessman. Fighting Vernon would have enhanced his legacy as a fighter but would have offered very little mainstream success. Fighting Manny was seen as an easy payday with a smaller opponent and somebody that brought a fan-base and could fill seats nobody knows Vernon Forrest . I think Oscar out-smarted himself on this match.
