How do I ready my garden after tomato blight?

Last year, my garden tomato's were bad. Many people in the State had the same problem and called it blight. I want to know what I have to do to get the garden ready for a new year, of hopefully, fruitful crop. Last fall I pulled all the vines and discarded them in the dumpster, but have done nothing else.
